The Ontario Tigers managed to keep up with the Gooding Senators until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Ontario ended up on the wrong side of a tough 39-18 walloping at the hands of Gooding. While losing is never fun, Ontario can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 200th in Oregon, while Gooding is ranked 97th in Idaho).
Gooding can attribute much of their success to Izzie Stockham, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Stockham is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Schilder, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Ontario and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Gooding, their victory bumped their record up to 4-8.
Ontario will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Payette at 7:30 p.m. Payette is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. Gooding won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Nampa Christian at 12:00 p.m. on December 30, 2023.
