The Peru Tigers pushed their score all the way to 65 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 66-65 to Northwestern. Peru was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Northwestern apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Matthew Roettger, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Roettger is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Ross, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Peru's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 8-7. As for Northwestern, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Peru will take on Culver Academies at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northwestern, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Twin Lakes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Twin Lakes will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
