Wooster is 0-6 against Reno since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The pair will round out the year against one another at 10:00 a.m. at. Wooster is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
Last Thursday, Wooster was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 44-40 to Portola. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Wooster came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 62nd in Nevada, while Portola is ranked 866th in California).
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Reno beat Reed 38-34 on Thursday. 38 seems to be a good number for Reno as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Reno can attribute much of their success to Natalia Schettler, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds, and Kindle Rowe, who scored ten points along with six rebounds. Schettler continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Wooster's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Reno, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.
Wooster was dealt a bruising 59-16 loss at the hands of Reno in their previous matchup back in December of 2019. Can Wooster avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
