The Pleasant Plains Cardinals lost against the Williamsville Bullets back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Pleasant Plains was beaten by Williamsville 55-13. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pleasant Plains in their matchups with Williamsville: they've now lost seven in a row.
Pleasant Plains' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Charlie Severino, who picked up 56 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 46 yards and a touchdown on only four passes.
Braddock Cates continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Williamsville, rushing for 144 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry, and also picking up 51 receiving yards. Cates is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Mason Johnson did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 106 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Pleasant Plains' loss on Friday dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Williamsville, their win was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 6-2.
Pleasant Plains will take on New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up four on Saturday. As for Williamsville, they will head out on the road to face off against Auburn at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
