Briarcrest Christian is a perfect 10-0 against St. Benedict at Auburndale since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Meanwhile, St. Benedict at Auburndale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-7 heartbreaker at the hands of Germantown. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since April 3, 2024.
Kyle Silvestro was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Silvestro was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Carson Twigg made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
St. Benedict at Auburndale's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Briarcrest Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 19-11.
