Aragon and Capuchino are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Dons will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Aragon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
While Aragon's win against Woodside wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Dons skirted past the Wildcats 5-4. That's two games straight that the Dons have won by just one run.
Aliyah Adle was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Taylor Workman was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, while Capuchino put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Carlmont. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Scots with a sharp 9-0 victory. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Scots recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Lily Thomas made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leeanna Patolo, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brianna Lopiccolo, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Capuchino kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.2.
Aragon's victory bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Capuchino, their win bumped their record up to 9-11.
Capuchino's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Aragon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. It's a different story for Capuchino, though, as they've only averaged .246. Will they be able to contain Aragon's hitters?
Aragon couldn't quite finish off Capuchino in their previous meeting back in April and fell 2-0. Will the Dons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
