Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Heritage Christian Academy). They snuck past the Unity Christian Academy Warriors with a 42-36 victory on Monday. The win was some much needed relief for the Patriots as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
It was another big night for Cheyenne Anderson, who posted 20 points. Another player making a difference was Amanda O'Neal, who had eight points.
Despite the defeat, Unity Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kayleigh Ballance went 8 of 13 en route to 18 points in addition to eight steals and six boards. Ballance is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Michelle Cole, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Heritage Christian Academy's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 4-11. As for Unity Christian Academy, their loss was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-14.
