Softball Recap: Warren Snags Third Win in Last Four Games

Warren lost to Sotomayor back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Warren Warriors came out on top against the Sotomayor WILDCATS by a score of 9-4. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by exactly five runs.

Yaya Castillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Warren let Aubrey Garcia and Jenna Bonilla run wild. Garcia scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Bonilla scored a run while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. Avery Sauceda was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Warren has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-7 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.25 hits in those games compared to only 4.86 in the others. This is the second loss in a row for Sotomayor and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Coincidentally, Warren and Sotomayor will both be playing Harlan the next time they take the field. Warren will head out to face Harlan at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Sotomayor will host them at 5:00 p.m. on March 19th.
