Garrett French made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. French was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Gavin French was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Miami Valley Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Bethel-Tate ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Fayetteville-Perry 10-9. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Brayden Seibert and Carter Moss were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Seibert pitched 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Moss tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Seibert went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Moss went a perfect 5-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Moss has become a key player for Bethel-Tate: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-10 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Simon Houser, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Landen Schultian, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Miami Valley Christian Academy's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Bethel-Tate, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-11.
Miami Valley Christian Academy took their win against Bethel-Tate in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 11-4 score. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
