Softball Recap: Ansonia Has No Trouble Against St. Henry

Ansonia barely beat St. Henry the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers put the hurt on the Redskins with a sharp 12-5 victory on Saturday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

Bre Walker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Ansonia got a massive performance out of Lillian Kaiser, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-4. What's more, Kaiser posted two runs, the most she's had since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Geyer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Ansonia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 10-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Ansonia is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for St. Henry, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

Ansonia and St. Henry are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Ansonia will square off against Jackson Center at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Henry, they will face off against Lincolnview at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
