Mesa is 5-0 against Desert Ridge since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Mesa Jackrabbits will be playing in front of their home fans against the Desert Ridge Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mesa has six straight wins, Desert Ridge has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Even though Shadow Ridge scored an imposing 76 points on Friday, Mesa still came out on top. Mesa had just enough and edged Shadow Ridge out 78-76. Given Mesa's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Shadow Ridge is ranked 73rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Anthony Seumanu continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. The match was his third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Conway Cummard, who scored 14 points along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Desert Ridge was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 46-40 to Campo Verde.
Mesa's victory bumped their season record to 6-0 while Shadow Ridge's defeat dropped theirs to 3-4.
Everything went Mesa's way against Desert Ridge in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as Mesa made off with a 84-58 victory. Will Mesa repeat their success, or does Desert Ridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
