Despite the loss, Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer got top-tier performance from Emmett Glathar, who dropped a double-double with 29 points and 15 boards. The game was Glathar's third in a row with at least 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Hilgenfeld, who posted 11 points.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Southern and Deshler, and Deshler kept the tradition alive. The Raiders were beaten by the Dragons 80-47 on Saturday. On the bright side, the 47- point performance marked the Raiders' highest-scoring matchup to date.
Despite the defeat, Southern saw an underclassman step up: freshman Weston Whitwer earned ten points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for Whitwer. Paxx Adams was another key player, putting up 13 points and five assists.
Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Southern, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Southern struggles in that department as they've been averaging 20.5 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer suffered a grim 65-44 defeat to Southern in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can the Titans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
