The Fairmont Senior Polar Bears will face off against the Roane County Raiders at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Philip Barbour hit Fairmont Senior with a six-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Polar Bears came up short against the Colts, falling 10-2. The Polar Bears haven't had much luck with the Colts recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
Fairmont Senior saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michaela Egidi, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that Egidi has snagged this season.
Meanwhile, Roane County entered their tilt with Webster County on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Highlanders a 15-0 shutout. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.
Payton Chandler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Autumn Craft was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Marissa Holcomb was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Roane County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games.
Roane County pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Fairmont Senior, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7-1.
