The Lincoln Cougars were the 53-51 winner over the Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Lincoln received a tough blow on Wednesday as they fell 54-39 to Buckhannon-Upshur.
Leading Buckhannon-Upshur to victory were Ian Strader and Jerin Westfall. Strader scored 13 points along with six rebounds, while Westfall scored 15 points. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Malaki Williams, who scored eight points.
Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Buckhannon-Upshur, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Lincoln's road trip will continue as they head out to face Ripley at 7:30 p.m. on December 22nd. Buckhannon-Upshur and East Rockingham will round out the year against one another at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday at. East Rockingham will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 261st in Virginia, while Buckhannon-Upshur is ranked 41st in West Virginia).
