The Southaven Chargers''s 10-1 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. Their tough 29-7 defeat to Oxford on Friday might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Southaven in their matchups with Oxford: they've now lost four in a row.
Oxford found their leader in underclassman Mitchell Grandjean, who threw for 163 yards and two touchdowns. Levi Blount also helped out with an impressive 83 receiving yards.
Southaven's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Oxford, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southaven will challenge Hernando at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Hernando's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Southaven has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Oxford, they will challenge Lewisburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
