Cary-Grove waltzed into their game on Friday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They strolled past the Jacobs Golden Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 44-29. That's more bragging rights for the Trojans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Several Golden Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Austin Stennett, who threw for 94 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 50 yards. Stennett was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. Justin Gonzalez made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Cary-Grove's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Jacobs, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-3.
