Despite the loss, Cristo Rey Fort Worth still got an impressive performance from Arturo Melendez, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Melendez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Saul Minero, who scored eight points along with two blocks.
Cristo Rey Fort Worth struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as St. Paul's Prep racked up 21 assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Paul's Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jeremy Perkins, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. Perkins is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games he's played. Landon Applon was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Cristo Rey Fort Worth's defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7. As for St. Paul's Prep, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-5.
Cristo Rey Fort Worth does not have any more games scheduled as of now. St. Paul's Prep will head out on the road to take on the Angels at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Burton Adventist Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Thursday.
