Softball Recap: Palmer Has No Trouble Against Rice

Palmer won the last time they faced Rice and things went their way on Monday too. Palmer put the hurt on Rice with a sharp 10-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for Palmer.

Kenli Dobie made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Corie Caldwell, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Samantha Maddox, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Palmer's record now sits at 9-12-1. As for Rice, they dropped their record down to 8-6-1 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Palmer is set to take on their familiar foe Maypearl at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Rice will challenge rival Scurry-Rosser at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
