Baseball Recap: Chickasha Wins Going Away Against Pauls Valley

While Chickasha put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Pauls Valley. The Fighting Chicks put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 10-0 win. The Fighting Chicks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by eight runs or more this season.

Tyson Owens and Layton Bryan were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Owens pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bryan didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Owens has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in 11 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Owens got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Bryan went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That's the most hits Bryan has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lane Johnson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had over his last six contests. Another player making a difference was Lane Jay, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Chickasha always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pauls Valley only posted an OBP of .211.

The victory made it two in a row for Chickasha and bumps their season record up to 22-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Pauls Valley, they dropped their record down to 5-24 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.

Looking ahead, Chickasha will host MacArthur at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pauls Valley, they will venture away from home to challenge Shawnee at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
