Clearwater Central Catholic stacked a sixth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. Everything went their way against Cardinal Gibbons as Clearwater Central Catholic made off with a 34-14 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 20-0.
Clearwater Central Catholic's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jershaun Newton, who rushed for 82 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Justin Stephens, who rushed for 137 yards while picking up 8.1 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, Indian Rocks Christian took a serious blow against Tarpon Springs on Friday, falling 49-15. While losing is never fun, Indian Rocks Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 321st, while Tarpon Springs is ranked 124th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Anthony Harris, who picked up 109 receiving yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Keatin Emener, who threw for 186 yards and two touchdowns.
Clearwater Central Catholic's win bumped their record up to 10-0. As for Indian Rocks Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Clearwater Central Catholic against Indian Rocks Christian in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 63-12 victory.
