After a string of five wins dating back to last season, the East Thunderbirds's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell to Resurrection Christian 59-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Resurrection Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Callie Gillespie, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Those eight rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Mackenzie Flikkema was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds.
East's loss dropped their record down to 4-1. As for Resurrection Christian, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Mountain Vista the next time they take the court. Resurrection Christian will head out to face Mountain Vista at 6:40 p.m. on Friday, while East will head out to face them at 6:40 p.m. on Saturday.
