After three games on the road, Nimitz is heading back home. They will take on the Richardson Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Nimitz's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Nimitz's offense. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 5-0 walloping at the hands of Lake Highlands on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Richardson came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.7 goals) and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand MacArthur a 1-0 shutout. Journee Mitchell had the honor of scoring the game-winner for Richardson.
Nimitz dropped their record down to 2-7-2 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only scored zero goals over those three matchups. As for Richardson, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Nimitz came up short against Richardson when the teams last played back in March of 2023, falling 2-0. Can Nimitz avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
