After having lost a blowout in their previous game against John Paul II Catholic, the Pungo Christian Academy Raiders were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They came out on top against Halifax Academy by a score of 44-34.
Despite the defeat, Halifax Academy saw an underclassman step up: Karson Ricks scored 14 points along with 8 steals and 5 rebounds. Ricks scored a full 41.2% of Halifax Academy's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Hayden Hilton, who scored 4 points along with 4 steals.
Pungo Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Halifax Academy, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pungo Christian Academy will take on Eastern Christian HomeSchool at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Eastern Christian HomeSchool is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Halifax Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Faith Christian at 6:45 p.m.
