Basketball Recap: Evan Rodgers' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Omaha Central over Lincoln North Star

Omaha Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 66-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lincoln North Star Navigators. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Navigators apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.

Omaha Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Evan Rodgers, who went 8 for 11 on his way to 20 points. That's the most points Rodgers has posted since back in December of 2024. Ike Ackerman was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

It was another big night for Jordan Castor, who went 7 of 11 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and five steals for Lincoln North Star. That makes it three consecutive games in which Castor has scored at least a third of Lincoln North Star's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Goay Gatwech, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 13 points.

Omaha Central's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Lincoln North Star, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

Omaha Central will welcome Omaha Northwest at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Omaha Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56 points per game this season. As for Lincoln North Star, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 67-52 loss against Bellevue West on the 6th.
