Last Thursday, Shorewood took a serious blow against the Hustlin' Hawks, falling 78-44. Shorewood has not had much luck with the Hustlin' Hawks recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, Milwaukee Lutheran had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They blew past Brown Deer 98-70 at home. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Makhai Jewell, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and 0 assists. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Xavier Allen was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Shorewood has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Milwaukee Lutheran, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Shorewood was dealt a bruising 96-68 defeat at the hands of the Red Knights in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Milwaukee Lutheran's Isaiah Allen, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
