Softball Recap: Saint Mary's Hall Has No Trouble Against Kenedy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Saint Mary's Hall). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Kenedy Lions an 8-0 shutout on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Meryl Jones made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Alexis Holmes was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Riley Wallace was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Saint Mary's Hall always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got Saint Mary's Hall back to even at 3-3. As for Kenedy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3-1.

Coming up, Saint Mary's Hall will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Concordia Lutheran at 4:00 p.m. As for Kenedy, they will take on Stockdale in a tournament on Thursday.
