Even though the Bandys Trojans have not done well against the Newton-Conover Red Devils recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Bandys took down Newton-Conover 47-30. Bandys pushed the score to 43-23 by the end of the third, a deficit Newton-Conover cut but never quite recovered from.
Bandys' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lexi Vaughan, who scored 14 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachel Anderson, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Newton-Conover's loss came despite strong showings from Sara Sain and Emma Smith. Sain dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds, while Smith scored six points along with nine rebounds. Sain is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played.
Bandys is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. As for Newton-Conover, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-15.
Bandys' road trip will continue as they head out to face Maiden at 6:30 p.m. on February 9th. Maiden is on a four-game streak of home wins, Bandys a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Newton-Conover will take on West Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Newton-Conover is facing West Lincoln at the right time seeing as West Lincoln is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
