The Blair Bears were the 56-50 winner over the Bennington Badgers when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Blair suffered a rough 44-23 loss at the hands of Bennington on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Blair can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Bennington is ranked 33rd).
Blair got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
 Claire Anderson and
Leah Chance, who each put up five points.
Bennington's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Skylar Johnson, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Harper Bohaboj, who scored six points along with seven steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Blair and nudges their season record down to 6-4. As for Bennington, their win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3.
Blair is on the road again on Thursday and play against Norris at 4:15 p.m. on January 11th. Hopefully Norris focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Thursday. As for Bennington, they will be playing at home against Waverly at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Waverly is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
