1A Tar-Roanoke recap Oct. 9, 2012
Northampton County extended the longest winning streak in 1A Tar-Roanoke this week by beating Weldon, 20-18. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Southeast Halifax took down Rocky Mount Prep 48-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. LeQuandry Howard ran for 36 yards and caught two passes for 67 yards in the win.
Northampton County's Keion Crossen and Brian Lassiter have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Crossen has thrown for 346 yards this season, while Lassiter, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has four catches for 212 yards. Jaquez McDaniel from the Trojans leads the league in rushing with 833 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Southeast Halifax takes on Gates County. At the moment, Larry Edwards' team is in second, while the Red Barons are in third.
