The Gilman Pirates can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They snuck past Spencer with a 49-45 win. That's another feather in the cap for Gilman, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Despite the defeat, Spencer saw an underclassman step up: Autumn Davis almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. Davis is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. Alexis Mlsna was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Gilman's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-12. As for Spencer, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.
Gilman will look to defend their home court on Friday against Columbus Catholic at 7:15 p.m. As for Spencer, they will head out on the road to face off against Neillsville at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Neillsville is coming into the game with five straight victories at home, meaning Spencer will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory.
