The Brito Panthers will take on the Hialeah Educational Academy Biggie in a tournament on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Brito is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Coral Reef. Brito blew past Coral Reef 10-3 on Monday.

Samuel Castro was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Brito let Noah Nevarez and Raivon Pinder loose on the outfield. Nevarez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Pinder got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Hector Santos, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Hialeah Educational Academy got the win against Sunset on Wednesday by a conclusive 10-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Biggie.
Like Brito, Hialeah Educational Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: JOSHUA CARDOSO. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. CARDOSO was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, JOSE AVILES and ANDREW PEREZ did most of the damage at the plate: AVILES scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while PEREZ scored a run while going 2-for-3. BRIAN BOLANOS was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Everything went Brito's way against Hialeah Educational Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Brito made off with an 18-4 win. Will Brito repeat their success, or does Hialeah Educational Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
