On Friday, The King Academy Knights faced the Wardlaw Academy Patriots in a battle between two of the state's top teams. King Academy was outmatched by Wardlaw Academy at home and fell 44-6. Having soared to a lofty 58 points in the game before, King Academy couldn't push the score so high this time.
Colt Bailey was his usual excellent self, rushing for 143 yards and four touchdowns on only five carries. Bailey was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 61 yards. Addison Faust made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
King Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Wardlaw Academy, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-3.
King Academy will take on Jefferson Davis Academy at 7:30 a.m. on Friday. As for Wardlaw Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Faith Christian at 7:30 p.m. Faith Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
