Frontier Regional has gone a perfect 5-0 against East Longmeadow recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Red Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Spartans at 6:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Frontier Regional has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while East Longmeadow will arrive with six straight victories.
Frontier Regional managed to slip by Westfield the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Red Hawks lost 3-0 to the Bombers on Wednesday.
While Frontier Regional was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-16, 25-18.
East Longmeadow won the last time they faced Belchertown and Lily Gurung did her part to make sure it happened again. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Orioles on Monday thanks in part to Gurung, who had five digs and three aces. She is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served three or more in each of the last four games she's played.
East Longmeadow not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Belchertown between 17 and 20 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-17, 25-19.
East Longmeadow's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Frontier Regional, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Frontier Regional has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 11 aces per game. However, it's not like East Longmeadow struggles in that department as they've been averaging 16.9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
