The Lanier Longhorns had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against Jackson County as Lanier made off with a 31-7 win. The result was nothing new for Lanier, who have now won four contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Lanier's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Preston Ratliff, who threw for 259 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt. Dmajai Hightower was another key contributor, picking up 115 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Despite the loss, Jackson County still got an impressive performance from Jaydan Hibbert, who picked up 116 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Lanier's victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.6 points per game. As for Jackson County, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Lanier will head out on the road to face off against Shiloh at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Shiloh will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while Lanier is ranked 76th). Jackson County will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Gainesville at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd.
