While Huntington North didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over Manchester on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Vikings have won by exactly three runs.
Brady Harris looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Cruz Kindler was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brodee Swaidner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Fort Wayne Snider unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of DeKalb.
Isaiah Snavely was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Brandon Logan was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Huntington North's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Fort Wayne Snider, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Huntington North came out on top in a nail-biter against Fort Wayne Snider in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
