Baseball Recap: Coudersport Wins Going Away Against Oswayo Valley

Coudersport had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 20-run drubbing they dealt Oswayo Valley on Wednesday. The Falcons put the hurt on the Green Wave with a sharp 21-1 victory. The Falcons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Green Wave, too.

Lawson Wetzel and Mason Roessner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Wetzel pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Roessner tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season. At the plate, Wetzel went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Roessner went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Roessner a new career-high.

In other batting news, Danny VanVladricken and Thomas Mcclintic did most of the damage at the plate: VanVladricken scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5, while Mcclintic scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. VanVladricken is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Quinn Kratzer, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.

Coudersport now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Oswayo Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Coudersport will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Cameron County at 4:30 p.m. on the 4th. As for Oswayo Valley, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-7 win against Youngsville on the 28th.
