The Cadillac Vikings will venture away from home to square off against the Alma Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Petoskey hit Cadillac with a four-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings lost 11-1 to the Northmen.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Alma). They put the hurt on Bridgeport with a sharp 19-0 victory on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Owen Seeley made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Seeley was also solid in the batter's box, earning two RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brennen Palmer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Palmer is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Ethan Helinski, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Alma always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Alma has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Cadillac, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
Cadillac came up short against Alma in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 6-1. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
