After flying high against the Arrupe Jesuit Generals on Tuesday, the Clear Creek Golddiggers came back down to earth. The match between Clear Creek and Vail Mountain wasn't particularly close, with Clear Creek falling 52-33. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Clear Creek has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Clear Creek lost on Thursday, one person who can't be blamed is Collin Hendrickson. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. Hendrickson scored a full 60.6% of Clear Creek's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Tyler O'Brien, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Clear Creek now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Vail Mountain, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clear Creek will play host again and welcome West Grand, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vail Mountain will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Caprock Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 11, 2024.
