In what's become a running theme this season, the Spanish Springs Cougars gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 48-24 margin over Reno. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Spanish Springs has posted against Reno since February 11, 2020.
Spanish Springs found their leader in underclassman Aaliyah Vance, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Reese Wakefield was another key contributor, scoring no points along with seven steals.
Reno's loss came despite strong showings from Natalia Schettler and Yolanda Reyes. Schettler scored six points along with 15 rebounds, while Reyes scored two points.
Spanish Springs is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. As for Reno, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.
Spanish Springs will be playing at home against Carson at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Carson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday. As for Reno, they will head out on the road to square off against Douglas at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglas will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
