After a string of four wins, the South Garner Titans's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to Corinth Holders. South Garner has not had much luck with Corinth Holders recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Several Titans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tamia Darden, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Darden is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Taylor Moore, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.
Leading Corinth Holders to victory were Kamea Davis and Darla Lee. Davis scored 18 points along with nine rebounds, while Lee went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lee has scored all season. Bella Stromberg was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two blocks.
South Garner's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4. As for Corinth Holders, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Garner will square off against Garner at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Garner will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 366th, while South Garner is ranked 57th). As for Corinth Holders, they will head out on the road to challenge Fuquay - Varina at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Fuquay - Varina focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 last Tuesday.
