The third road match was the charm for The Shelbyville Dragons, as they earned their first road win of the season. They managed a 40-34 victory over San Augustine on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Franny Buckley was on fire: he rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 233 yards and three touchdowns while completing 90.9% of his passes. Shelbyville also got a significant boost from Hunter Harvey, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 89 yards.
Tymorian Cartwright and Jerkeldrick Malone, San Augustine certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Cartwright threw for 264 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt, while Malone picked up 120 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Malone was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 61 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Demarion "Lil Man" Teagle, who picked up 89 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Shelbyville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for San Augustine, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Shelbyville will look to defend their home field on Friday against Timpson at 7:00 p.m. Timpson has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 444 points over their last eight matchups. As for San Augustine, they will head out on the road to face off against Garrison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Garrison will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
