The New Waverly Bulldogs are on the road again on Thursday and play against the Normangee Panthers at 10:00 a.m. on December 7th.
New Waverly's 29-8 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were beaten by Gateway College Preparatory 57-28 on Friday. While losing is never fun, New Waverly can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1315th, while Gateway College Preparatory is ranked 497th).
Normangee can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They managed a 58-54 victory over Elkhart.
Normangee found their leader in underclassman Pj Edwards, who scored 20 points along with 9 rebounds. Edwards has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Trey Kirven, who scored 10 points.
New Waverly has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Normangee, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
New Waverly came up short against Normangee in their previous meeting back in December of 2016, falling 49-42. Can New Waverly avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
