Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Montgomery Central

Montgomery Central lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Stewart County, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's match. The Indians didn't even let the Rebels on the board on Friday, marking the Indians' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The victory was nothing new for the Indians as they're now sitting on four straight.

Dylan Fulton made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Montgomery Central is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-13 otherwise. Fulton was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Cooper Dixon and Malosi Laban did most of the damage at the plate: Dixon went 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI, while Laban got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Dixon a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Evander Powers, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Montgomery Central's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-14. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Stewart County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season.

Montgomery Central will challenge Clarksville at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Stewart County, they will face off against Waverly Central at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
