Richland is a perfect 10-0 against Hermiston since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bombers will host the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
14 must be Richland's lucky number: they beat Kennewick with that score not once but twice on Friday. The Bombers blew past the Lions 14-2. Winning may never get old, but the Bombers sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Sophia Sams and Ali Evans were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Sams pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Evans tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Sams has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single walk in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Sams went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Evans went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Payton Chacon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklynn Boyce, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Richland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 12 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Hermiston made easy work of Walla Walla on Friday and carried off a 19-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won four in a row.
Like Richland, Hermiston also got a great game from a two-way player: Piper Roberts. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Roberts was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two runs and one double. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Hermiston got a massive performance out of Kenley Venoy, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Venoy a new career-high. Jordyn Emerick was another key player, going 3-for-6 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Richland pushed their record up to 17-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Hermiston, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.
Hermiston's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Richland has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Hermiston, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.9 strikeouts. Will Richland keep running through batters, or will the Bulldogs buck the trend?
Richland took their win against Hermiston when the teams last played on Tuesday by a conclusive 7-1 score. Will the Bombers repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
