The Silver Lake Mustangs will challenge the Deshler Dragons on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Silver Lake has six straight victories, Deshler has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
On Thursday, Silver Lake had just enough and edged out Giltner 2-1.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Silver Lake got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-17, 23-25, 25-23.
Meanwhile, Deshler lost 3-0 to Meridian on Thursday.
While Deshler was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-20, 25-22.
Silver Lake will have to keep a close watch on Claire Sasse and Jessie Kayser, a pair of players who had a big impact on Deshler's prior game. Sasse had 12 digs and one assist, while Kayser had 21 digs, five kills, four aces, and one block. Kayser is crushing it when it comes to kills: she's had at least five every time she's taken the court this season.
Deshler's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Silver Lake, their win bumped their record up to 13-6.
Silver Lake couldn't quite get it done against Deshler when the teams last played back in October of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
