Evergreen Christian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-42 win over Calvary Temple. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 57-38 loss the last time these two teams met.
Evergreen Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maddie Wivell out in front who shot 56% from the field en route to 14 points along with six assists and five boards. The last time Wivell's field goal percentage was this high was back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kayden Johnson, who made all 5 shots she took racking up 10 points.
Evergreen Christian and Calvary Temple will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time Evergreen Christian sees the court they'll take on Clinton Grace Christian at 5:30 p.m. on December 2. As for Calvary Temple, their break will end when they face Fairfax HomeSchool at 5:15 p.m. on December 8.
