Pettisville hasn't had much luck against Hilltop recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Blackbirds are taking a road trip to face off against the Cadets at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Monday, Pettisville made easy work of Stryker and carried off a 27-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blackbirds.
Macy Hoylman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Olivia Miller was a standout: she got on base in all six of her plate appearances with five runs and two RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Kendyl Davis also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Pettisville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Hilltop came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Archers a 6-0 shutout. Give the Cadets' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
The result came thanks to Giada Rising's shutout, as she gave up just four hits.
At the plate, Hilltop let Kelsy Connolly and Brooklyn Kuszmaul run wild. Connolly went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Kuszmaul went 2-for-3 with one home run. Sophie Graham was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Hilltop pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pettisville, their record is now 11-5.
Both Pettisville and Hilltop just can't seem to miss. The Blackbirds have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Hilltop struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pettisville might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Hilltop in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Blackbirds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
