2A-1 Region I District 2 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Kermit moved up to 846 from 921 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A-1 Region I District 2. A 12-7 win over Eldorado helped the Yellow Jackets improve their standing.
Kermit was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league. Coby Owen's team vanquished the Eagles 12-7 earlier in the week.
Lamesa's dynamic duo of Kolt Moreland and Brody Alexandar proved tough for Clyde to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Moreland threw for 326 yards and two touchdowns and Alexandar had 147 yards receiving. Ryan Garza helped Lamesa's passing attack out by catching five balls for 101 yards.
Seth Reagan was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 10 carries, he ran for 93 yards as Idalou lost to the Bulldogs. Teammate Koal Houchin added to the ground attack by rushing for 68 yards.
Lamesa's Moreland and Alexandar have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 2A-1 Region I District 2 in both passing and receiving yards. Moreland has thrown for 1361 yards this season, while Alexandar has 26 catches for 489 yards. The Wildcats' Houchin leads the league in rushing yards with 523.
The Yellow Jackets and Eldorado played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with the Yellow Jackets eventually emerging with a 12-7 victory.
