On Friday Stanton will take on Cedar Catholic at 7:00 PM. The MaxPreps rankings say the odds are against Stanton, but that can only make success all the sweeter.
Things haven't been easy for Stanton, and their game last Friday only extended their streak of losses to six. They took a serious blow against Norfolk Catholic last Friday, falling 12-56. Sophomore Sutton Pohlman and senior Marcus Spotanski were two go-getters for Stanton despite the defeat. The former caught passes for 103 yards and picked up 32 yards on the ground, while the latter passed for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns. In fact, with 17 tackles Pohlman was a force on both sides of the ball.
Meanwhile, if Cedar Catholic were riding high off their 40-12 takedown of Crofton two weeks ago, that ride came to an abrupt end. Cedar Catholic were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap, as they fell 7-13 to Battle Creek. Cedar Catholic's low-scoring loss was the unsatisfying follow-up to their high-scoring outing the contest before.
With both teams hitting sour notes in their previous games, they will no doubt be looking to produce a better outcome in this one. Find out which team's record gets a tune-up and which team falls into a funk by watching the game and checking back on MaxPreps for the full scoop.
