Basketball Game Preview: Logansport Berries vs. Tipton Blue Devils

The Logansport Berries will take on the Tipton Blue Devils in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Saturday, Logansport was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 64-58 to Rochester. The Berries have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Defeat or not, Logansport got some senior leadership from Chris Anthony Delvalle and Carson Dubes. Delvalle almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine assists, while Dubes posted 17 points and three steals. That's the most steals Dubes has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Eli Baldwin, who put up eight points.

Even though they lost, Logansport was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Tipton was able to grind out a solid win over Muncie Central on Tuesday, taking the game 59-50. With that victory, the Blue Devils brought their scoring average up to 51.2 points per game.

Tipton had a senior duo take command as Grady Carpenter almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine boards and Sam Quigley went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Carpenter has scored at least a third of Tipton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Auler, who had seven points.

Logansport now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Tipton, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Logansport has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 26.6 boards per game. However, it's not like Tipton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.2 rebounds.
